Food Friday

I decided it would be fun to post food storage recipes on Fridays. I'm continuing to add resources to this blog as I find them. There will be links for other websites with lots of recipes incorporating food storage. Here is a family favorite of ours. It can be adapted to use food storage items.

Navajo Tacos

Fry Bread: 2 cups flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 cup water, 1 tsp salt. Mix all ingredients and knead until smooth and elastic. Separate dough into small, fist-size balls. Roll dough out, thin. Place in heated oil. Cook until lightly brown on each side.

Chili: You can use canned chili, but we make our own. You brown 1 lb hamburger and drain. Add chili spice packet, 1-8oz can tomato sauce, 1 can chili beans.

Top fry bread with chili and add toppings.

Toppings: Cheese (can buy freeze dried cheese), lettuce (this can't be stored, so you'll have to garden! :)), tomato (garden again) or we use salsa, sour cream (can buy sour cream powder!), etc.

This is a very filling meal and delicious. Enjoy! The Fry bread is our family favorite with butter and honey or apple butter.

  1. Would you like to add us to your "Emergency Preparedness & Food Storage Sites"?

We *also* offer all-natural canned meats, canned cheese (real cheese) and canned butter (real butter).

    Thanks for your consideration.
